Jarno Trulli set the last time of the last day of testing in Jerez, 3?221 behind the time of Fernando Alonso (1?18??877). But the main point is not there for the Italian who covered 117 laps without encountering the slightest mechanical problem. The Caterham driver came away enthusiastic from the session where he immediately felt at ease behind the wheel of the CT01. The Malaysian team notably has the SREC to achieve its first points in F1.
“It was a very positive day”, assures Jarno Trulli. “I don't remember having a better first day or even a first week of testing. We drove without any major problems despite the fact that the car is completely revolutionary and has interesting new systems like SREC. I am satisfied despite the times which are not at all representative, particularly for us who wanted to conserve fuel. The steering is clearly better (compared to the old one). I have a much better feeling about this car, I haven't felt that for almost a year. There are still a few details to be ironed out but overall it is very good. »
