Jean-Eric Vergne concedes a lack of performance

Jean-Eric Vergne had a complicated week. First the announcement of his replacement by the young Max Verstappen in 2015 at Toro Rosso, then a difficult race this Sunday in Belgium at Spa, while free practice and qualifying gave a glimpse of the possibility of bringing back precious points. The Frenchman conceded a lack of performance in the race.

“We need to analyze why there was such a lack of performance today,
explains the Habs. After the tests, everything seemed to be in order. I got off to a bad start, things were going in all directions around me. In addition I was very slow in the straight, and it was difficult to come back afterwards. I think with the soft tires we were in the running for points. »

Asked about the impact of the announcement of his replacement, Vergne wanted to clarify things. “It doesn’t change anything. I'm here for the points. We will work very hard in the run-up to Monza to get these points. »
