Jean-Eric Vergne will not be Toro Rosso driver in 2015

It all started during the summer when the Dutchman Max Verstappen had been made official in Toro Rosso in 2015 to replace Jean-Eric Vergne. The 24-year-old French pilot had not hidden his intention to continue in F1, and his name had returned to the Faenza stable, when Franz Tost had placed him on a shortlist of four drivers, with Carlos Sainz Jr, Alex Lynn and Pierre Gasly. In addition, the good performances at the end of the championship, particularly in Singapore, from the native of Pontoise, could work in his favor.

However this Wednesday, Jean-Eric Vergne officially announced that he would no longer be a Toro Rosso driver in 2015. “Despite a good season and 22 points, I will no longer be at Toro Rosso in 2015. Thank you for these years. Now for a new beautiful project. » It now remains to be seen what this project will be, and whether it will be written in F1, the places available being very limited.

Concerning the vacant seat, Carlos Sainz Jr, Alex Lynn remain favorites, the two drivers having been able to progress during the F1 tests, yesterday for the Spaniard at Red Bull, and today at Lotus for the GP3 Series champion.
