Jean-Éric Vergne penalized at the Spanish GP

Jean-Éric Vergne does not seem to have gotten rid of his black cat for the start of the European season. The pilot Toro Rosso pays for his team's mistake in incorrectly securing a wheel during the second free practice session by receiving a ten-place penalty on the grid for the Spanish Grand Prix. This sanction is all the more severe as overtaking maneuvers are difficult on the Circuit de Catalunya.

Laurent Mekies, the vehicle performance director, admitted that the team was at fault. “We had a problem when JEV stopped at the end of his long stint because he lost a wheel as soon as he left the pits. Fortunately, no one got hurt. We need to understand exactly what happened so it doesn't happen again. »

The team was also fined £25000 (just over €30000).
