Jean Todt: “Make sure we don’t lose any attractive team”

La Team Ferrari keeps a special place in Jean Todt's career. The current president of the FIA led the Italian team to its last rites in F1 in the 2000's.

Today, the French manager must deal with repeated threats in recent months of Ferrari leaving F1, if by chance the future technical regulations do not find a favorable response among the transalpine leaders.

Despite these repeated declarations, Jean Todt adopts a global point of view on the situation. « I'm not worried about Ferrari leaving, underlines the former boss of Peugeot Talbot Sport, quoted by Press Association.

Everyone makes their own choice, I just worry about making good decisions and making good choices for the future of Formula 1. If we do a good job we will have a lot of competitors participating.

We need to make sport more affordable, make sure we don't lose any attractive teams, and that's what we have to do [...] I don't see Ferrari the way I saw them, I see them as a manufacturer of beautiful cars and as a great team in motorsport. »

Sergio Marchionne, president of FIAT and Ferrari, even mentioned the possibility to launch an alternative series.
