Jenson Button optimistic for 2017

Jenson Button doesn't seem to want to retire just yet. While the name of the 2009 world champion is mentioned at Williams Racing for next year, the Briton is still trying to get a few points for McLaren-Honda suffering since the beginnings of the Japanese Power Unit.

The teammate of Fernando Alonso hopes that the future regulation put in place from 2017 will put an end to the supremacy of Mercedes F1.

“I still enjoy driving in F1, but it's not about driving, it's about winning and that hasn't happened to me for a while,” Jenson Button commented in Auto Bild. The discipline is moving in the right direction. »

“I hope we will have other races like Barcelona (the Spanish GP was won by Max Verstappen following the double abandonment on contact of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg) which everyone appreciated since we had four cars fighting for victory. The sport does not need to have two drivers from the same manufacturer fighting for the title,” added the McLaren driver.

Jenson Button in any case seems to be considering his future with the Woking team, even if reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne is waiting no longer.

“The top three teams will still be at the forefront next year and I hope McLaren-Honda will be too given the development made this year and the talented personnel within the team. It's conceivable, but these are just predictions for now. It's nice to be able to say that things are improving and that we're part of this program, but if we're never satisfied if we miss the podium and don't fight for victory, Jenson Button said.
