Jenson Button regrets his departure

Jenson Button did not get off to a good start at the start of the Spanish GP. McLaren therefore decided to modify its strategy by banking on 3 stops instead of 4 for its opponents. This decision allowed him to regain the upper hand over Mark Webber (Red Bull) and Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) for the gain of 3th place.

« The first round was a disaster », admits the Briton. “ I got off to a pretty bad start and 3 or 4 cars passed me at the first and third corner. It was a frustrating first lap and then I couldn't overtake the cars in front of me. Once the first lap was over, it was a good race. »

Jenson Button is also happy with the strategic choice of his team. “ As soon as I learned that I was on this strategy (3 stops), I was happy with the choice of my team", admits the 2009 World Champion. "For me, this strategy was self-evident and it worked quite well. walked until the end. »
