Jenson Button on the wire in Montreal

After almost two hours of interruption due to bad weather, Sebastian Vettel seemed to be on track to score another victory in Montreal. But the pilot Red Bull made a mistake on the final lap, handing first place to Jenson Button (McLaren). The Briton put in an impressive performance, having made no fewer than six pit stops, including a drive-through.

Mark Webber (Red Bull) takes the last step of the podium, after overtaking in the final laps Michael Schumacher (Mercedes GP). The German, who started eighth, fought until the end to try to get a podium. After his retirement in Monaco, Vitaly Petrov offers a satisfactory fifth place to the Lotus-Renault GP. His teammate Nick Heidfeld retired while fighting for a place in the top ten at Kamui Kobayashi (Sauber). The Japanese finally finished seventh behind Felipe Massa.

Toro Rosso places its two cars in the top ten with the eighth place of Jaime Alguersuari and the 10th position of Sebastian Buemi. Rubens Barrichello (Williams) finished between the two drivers of Dietrich Mateschitz's second team.

Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) was a good contender for victory, the Spaniard starting alongside the pole sitter on the grid. But the Ferrari driver retired after hitting the wall after contact with the race winner. Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) suffered the same fate in the first laps as he started from fifth position.
