Jenson Button still wants to believe it

Silverstone has never smiled on Jenson Button, but the Briton still hopes to achieve a good result on his home soil. But the pilot McLaren is going through a difficult period since he has not been on the podium since the Chinese GP in April. And he only scored six points in five races. The rainy conditions were a hope for the 2009 world champion who is used to excelling in the rain, but his MP4-27 failed him again in qualifying. The Briton did not even manage to pass the Q1 stage after suffering from the front end of his car whose balance has deteriorated with the sculpted tires.

“I can usually drive a race car in the rain but that was definitely not the case in qualifying”, the McLaren driver must admit. “The car behaved completely differently with the second set of intermediate tires. I already had an unstable car on the front axle with the first gear and I couldn't use my tires, but the problem got worse when I changed tires. I was also slowed down by a yellow flag towards the finish line. That's the whole story of my season. If the race will be contested in the rain, I will be better equipped because my tires have not done too many kilometers. You have to manage to take all the positive sides of the situation, as far as possible. »
