Jenson Button wanted to do better

Jenson Button (McLaren), fifth in the German Grand Prix, is not satisfied at the end of the Hockenheim weekend. However, after six consecutive qualifications during which he was beaten by Lewis Hamilton, the former Brawn driver was able to start, this time, in front of his teammate.

But, from the start, the latter took the advantage. Jenson Button tried a strategic gamble by delaying his stop to put on the hard tires. But this attempt proved unsuccessful. If the reigning World Champion was able to stay behind his teammate's wheels, the McLarens were unable to keep up with the pace of Sebastian Vettel, third.

« The problem is that I kept locking my wheels, explains the Briton. I think it's because we were running with very little aerodynamic downforce. We were 6 or 7 km/h faster on the straights because we carried less downforce. We thought, before the race, that it was the best package on this circuit. »

However, McLaren did not do a bad job at Hockenheim. In the “Constructors” World Championship standings, the Woking team only lost one point on Red Bull. The native of Frome is satisfied with it but regrets not having won his internal duel against Lewis Hamilton. “ It's disappointing even if we don't lose too many points on Red Bull. For me it's disappointing because I lost points on Lewis even though I started in front of him. » Over the last six Grands Prix, Lewis Hamilton has taken 35 points from Jenson Button.
