Jerez J4: Alonso has the performance, Rosberg has the pace

Grooved tires were required this morning following the showers present in Jerez until mid-morning. The rainy weather did not prevent Nico Rosberg from completing more than 90 laps at the wheel of the W05, which now has around 250 laps on the clock. The German, who should give way this afternoon to Lewis Hamilton, also highlighted himself by remaining at the top of the timesheet until Fernando Alonso took advantage of a drier track to take the best time (1’35”334) with intermediate tires (51 laps completed). La Flèche d’Argent is relegated to 1”6 but performances should improve this afternoon if conditions remain dry.

Kevin Magnussen follows at three seconds on its McLaren MP4-29 in front of the Williams FW36 of Felipe Massa and the Force India VJM07 of Daniel Juncadella. Despite the difficulties encountered on the V6 Renault, the teams powered by the 1.6l turbo/hybrid from Vity-Châtillon were able to take part in the tests without experiencing any incidents. If Kamui Kobayashi was able to complete around forty laps on the Caterham CT05, Daniel Ricciardo completed only seven laps this morning on the Red Bull RB10. Daniil Kvyat did barely more at the wheel of the Toro Rosso STR9. Jules Bianchi also limited his driving in the Marussia MR03 since he only completed five laps like his teammate Max Chilton the day before. Please note that no incidents have disrupted the day so far.
