Jerez / Lewis Hamilton: “Short but positive”

It was a first. Lewis Hamilton participated, this Wednesday, February 6, in its first tests aboard a Mercedes, his new stable. All like the day before for his teammate Nico Rosberg, the experience was short-lived! After just 15 rounds, the 2008 world champion was going to end up in a wall of tires at the very end of the pit straight. The cause was a failure of the rear brakes. Being able to brake only from the front, the Briton was unable to avoid contact with his Silver Arrow. An accident without seriousness for the pilot, who was going to extricate himself immediately from his car.

Despite this setback, who upset the team to abort his tests for the second consecutive day, Lewis Hamilton puts things into perspective. “We had a good start but unfortunately a failure caused the premature end of our day,” explains the former pilot McLaren. “These are things that happen and it?s an integral part of the tests. Of course, it would be better if we got rid of these little problems as soon as possible, and the guys are working very hard for that. » Regarding his contact with the W04, Lewis Hamilton is satisfied. ?Based on the few laps I completed this morning, my general feeling was very positive. I got a good basic understanding of the car. I told colleagues that we just need to keep pushing like this and I know that's what we're going to do. »

This Thursday, Nico Rosberg will take the reins of the W04 for this third day of pre-season testing.
