Jérôme d?Ambrosio threatened at Virgin?

Rookie in Formula 1, Jérôme d?Ambrosio made a more than decent debut in the discipline at the wheel of his modest MVR-02. Yes but here it is, according to LeSoir.be, the adventure could soon end, the sponsors of the Belgian driver having not kept their commitments, or are at least behind on their payments. Manager of D?Ambrosio, Eric Boullier will go to Belgium this week to try to resolve this matter.

“It is with my Gravity boss hat that I will come to you (in Belgium, editor’s note) because this is not going well, the Frenchman told the site LeSoir.be. What had been promised by the partners supposed to support Jérôme did not follow. We have already been given a number of arguments, but now enough is enough! Especially since at Virgin, we're starting to get angry. The team management clearly told me that they were thinking of replacing Jérôme if things didn't change. Still happy that Jérôme is doing a great job and that the relationship between Gravity and Virgin is much more than contractual. We are the ones who wipe the plaster and put our hands in our pockets to calm things down, but this cannot last indefinitely. »

Even if it is still too early to talk about this, the name of Robert Wickens is the one that comes up with the most insistence when the possible replacement of D?Ambrosio is mentioned. The Canadian, current leader of Formula Renault 3.5 Series, has the advantage of being supported by the car manufacturer Marussia.
