Made responsible for the pile-up at the start of the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps last Sunday, Romain Grosjean received a Grand Prix suspension (see here). The misfortune of some making the happiness of others, Jérôme d'Ambrosio will have the opportunity to prove his worth at the wheel of one of the most competitive single-seaters on the grid, the Lotus E20. After a season spent with Marussia Virgin Racing, the Belgian found refuge within the British team as third driver. He was able to do a few laps behind the wheel of James Allison's latest creation at Mugello last May and spends a lot of time in the simulator at enstone.
« My desire for the 2012 season has always been to get back into the seat of a Formula 1, explains d’Ambrosio. So I'm grabbing this opportunity with both hands. Monza is a fantastic circuit and I can't wait to get out on track on Friday. As a third driver, I worked with the team on every Grand Prix, attending all the briefings and meetings attended by the drivers. Also, I think I am well prepared. Monza is a superb circuit, but it is also technical. So I do not underestimate the task that awaits me. I would like to thank the team for the confidence they have placed in me by giving them good points at the end of the race. I will return the wheel to Romain after Sunday?s Grand Prix and I hope that this participation will allow me to fully express my qualities. »
