Two-faced day at Mercedes

The Mercedes W06 Hybrid once again proved to be the fastest in Hungary during the first day of free testing near Budapest. But the star clan appeared divided at the end of these three hours of driving.

“It was really fun today. proclaimed the World Champion Lewis Hamilton after the second session who had seen him dominate his rivals, just like during the morning session. I'm starting to think that it's my favorite track. It's so much fun to ride with these turn combinations. It was incredibly hot, it was like driving in a sauna! It's a real challenge to do a decent lap in these conditions and I think everyone struggled a bit. Our car handles well and I'm happy so far. »

A totally different point of view from that of his teammate Nico Rosberg who indicated that he struggled a lot with the balance of his car. “It was a difficult day. I haven't really found the right balance., switching from understeer to oversteer. There is still a lot of work to improve my settings before tomorrow morning, and to have practice in FP3 for qualifying. »

The German, however, noted a positive point in his day which saw him conclude the second session behind the two Red Bull by Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo. « The pace on the long stints remains decent. I think we can build on this setting. »

The third free practice session will begin tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. Photos from the Hungarian Grand Prix can be viewed here.
