Saturday canceled in Suzuka due to Typhoon Hagibis

After 2004 and 2010, 2019 will have to be added to the list of Japanese Grands Prix disrupted by local weather. Indeed, the FIA, the FOM, the Suzuka circuit, and the Japanese motorsport federation have decided to cancel all activities initially planned for Saturday due to the threat posed by Typhoon Hagibis.

« The FIA and the Formula 1 support this decision, in the interest of spectators, competitors, and all other people present at Suzuka, and their safety », Says a federal press release published this Friday morning after the latest weather update.

As in previous editions of the Japanese round swept away by a typhoon, the qualifying session is postponed to Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. local time, or 03:00 a.m. in France. The start of the Grand Prix remains at 14:10 p.m. (07:10 a.m.).
