Jules Bianchi disappeared three years ago

Jules Bianchi died on July 17, 2015 as a result of his accident which occurred a few months earlier at the Japanese Grand Prix contested on October 5, 2014.

The Marussia driver lost control of his MR03 on the 43rd lap on the Suzuka circuit in circumstances which will launch a long investigation to determine the responsibility of the various actors. The Frenchman, then aged 25, crashed into a tow truck on the track to evacuate Adrian Sutil's Sauber while the yellow flag had been displayed without the race management bringing out the safety car.

Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, Jules Bianchi was hospitalized in Mie in critical condition with significant head trauma. He finally died in the Nice hospital, becoming the first pilot of F1 to die from an accident in competition since Ayrton Senna at the 1994 San Marino GP.

The FIA has since thoroughly reviewed its safety protocols, notably implementing the virtual safety car or the Halo, this cockpit protection installed on F1 cars since this year. The world of motorsport continues to provide numerous expressions of support for the Bianchi family via the hashtag #JB17.
