Jules Bianchi, four years already

Jules Bianchi passed away on July 17, 2015 after suffering a terrible accident a few months earlier at the Japanese GP which was contested on October 5, 2014 on the Suzuka circuit.

The former Marussia driver lost control of his MR03 in the rain and left the track where the marshals were removing Adrian Sutil's Sauber. The Frenchman hit a tow truck while the sector was simply under yellow flag.

Hospitalized in Mie in serious condition with head trauma, he finally died in Nice. This is the first fatal accident in F1 since the death of Ayrton Senna at the 1994 San Marino GP.

The FIA has since improved safety by installing a Halo on single-seaters which should protect the driver's head in the event of an impact.
