Kamui Kobayashi overwhelmed today at Sepang

Battery flat at the end of the first session, Kobayashi had been forced to end his session prematurely. The Japanese planned to return to the track in the afternoon, but an oil leak identified on the CT05 put an end to his day. “It's not good, obviously, and I'm not happy to have lost another Friday, but it's important to say that I know how hard everyone works, on our team and at Renault, to try to resolve these issues so that we can have a good racing weekend. The fact that Marcus was able to run the most laps of anyone in FP1 shows that we can be reliable – we just need to make sure both cars work for the rest of the weekend or we let's have another tough race. » explains the former Sauber driver.

Marcus Ericsson, in fact, proved to be the most diligent on the track in FP1, but suffered from engine shutdowns in FP2 and significant understeer. “Overall, it was important to have a full Friday for the first time, especially here for our home race in Malaysia. »concludes the young Swede.
