Former resident of the Hispania Racing Team, the Indian becomes a reserve for Tony Fernandes' team. He will be on track from Friday.

Third pilot, reserve? Within Team Lotus, it is very difficult to find your way. Still, Tony Fernandez?s team has just announced that it has hired Indian Karun Chandhok as a reserve, who last year started 10 Grands Prix on behalf of HRT.
The Indian will take part in several Friday free practice sessions this season, starting this week in Australia, at the Albert Park circuit.

"I have been talking with the team for some time, so I am delighted to be able to confirm that I will be driving for Team Lotus in 2011, explains the main person concerned. The detailed program of the sessions in which I will participate is being finalized, and after spending more time with the team during the last winter tests, I can testify to the passion that all the troops put into enabling this team to return to the top of the grid. It is an honor to be able to play a role in shaping this team for the future. »

From Friday, Karun Chandhok will sit in the seat of one of the two T128s. So here is a quick summary of the Drivers organization chart within the Malaysian team: In the starting position we find the Italian Jarno Trulli and the Finn Heikki Kovalainen. The third pilot is the Brazilian Luiz Razia, the test pilots are the Italian Davide Valsecchi and the Portuguese Ricardo Teixeira and the reserve is the Indian Karun Chandhok?
