If Pietro Fittipaldi was expected to take over the steering wheel left vacant after the departure of Nikita mazepin, Haas finally preferred to recall an elder of the house in the person of Kevin Magnussen.

While several names have been mentioned in recent days including Pietro Fittipaldi, Antonio Giovinazzi and even Nico Hulkenberg, the American team opted for a driver who already knew the house and the environment and therefore repatriated the Dane, who had been in the United States for a year to compete in theIMSA with Chip Ganassi, all with a multi-year contract!

« I am delighted to welcome Kevin back to Haas, savors Günther Steiner, the team principal of the American team. When we were looking for a driver who could bring value to the team, not to mention his extensive Formula 1 experience, Kevin was an easy solution for us. Its immediate availability allows us to integrate it into the Bahrain pre-season testing with Mick Schumacher and Pietro Fittipaldi. »

Kevin Magnussen's return to Haas has consequences that go beyond F1. Initially engaged in WEC with Peugeot , the Dane leaves the lion firm with immediate effect even before having competed in his first race there. “ We acknowledge Kevin Magnussen's decision to return to Formula 1 and wish him every success,” writes the French manufacturer in a press release which indicates that a replacement will be found.
