Kevin Magnussen thinks about the future

By signing with Renault, returning as a full-fledged manufacturer in 2016, Kevin Magnussen knew that the current season would not be the easiest, with a team rebuilding from the ashes of Lotus F1 team.

Despite the changes made to the Renault Power Unit, which is also satisfactory on the side of Red Bull Racing who has exceeded the Team Ferrari in the Manufacturers' standings, the R.S.16s have only entered the points once, precisely with Kevin Magnussen in Russia.

“It’s hard not to race for points, admits the Dane quoted by ESPN. If you are 15th or 16th, and you are fighting with another driver, even if you work hard to catch up and overtake him, you are still not in the points. It’s a very frustrating and difficult time, but I know what I’m working for. »

The former resident of McLaren, who still has no confirmation of the continuation of his commitment with Renault or another team for 2017, is indeed looking for his motivation in the future, more than just in the second part of the season.

“You try to learn as much as possible and prepare yourself for when your chance comes because that’s how Formula One works, adds Magnussen. Suddenly you're in a car that can win and you have to be ready. »

Magnussen, as well as his teammate Jolyon Palmer, must nevertheless expect a fairly difficult final part of the season, Renault having already turned its forces towards 2017. Very few areas on the R.S.16 will receive developments, as the Team recently confirmed. Principal Frédéric Vasseur.
