Kevin Magnussen: “A huge opportunity”

At the end of 2015, McLaren et Kevin Magnussen announced their separation. An end to the collaboration which could have put an end to the career of the young Danish driver in F1. Ce dernier s’était par ailleurs essayé à plusieurs disciplines en testant différentes voitures comme la Porsche 919 Hybrid du WEC where Mercedes-AMG DTM.

However, it is in F1 that we will find Magnussen in 2016. Jan's son knows that he is being offered a golden opportunity by taking the seat left vacant by Pastor Maldonado at Renault. « This is a huge opportunity, explained the former Formula champion Renault 3.5 yesterday in Guyancourt (Yvelines) where took place the presentation of Renault Sport F1 Team.

Few pilots are given a second chance, and I was just given one and a real one. I can't say how happy I am. Two years without a steering wheel could have meant the end. If you are world champion or whatever, you can hope to come back, but in my position, that would have been the end. Fortunately I got there. »

Magnussen will support the British Jolyon Palmer, while the French Esteban Ocon will occupy the position of reserve pilot.
