Kimi Räikkönen confident for 2012

How do you measure the difficulty of your comeback?

I would say it like this: before my two years of rally, I completed nine seasons, 157 races and won 18 victories in F1. I know the discipline well. When I went on a rally and when I did NASCAR, I had everything to learn. With the Formula 1, I feel like I'm coming home. I can't wait to get back behind the wheel.

Will it take you time to get back to your best?

I hope not! I'm more motivated than ever and I don't think I've lost my speed. Getting the most out of the tires will, of course, be the hardest part, but I'm not really worried. Although the regulations do not vary much, this applies in several areas. So a few things will need to be redrawn. Conclusion, the cars will be noticeably different next year. The hierarchy could be shaken up and that makes the challenge interesting.

What is your plan on the road to testing?

The tests don't arrive until February, so it's a long wait. But I should be able to jump into a car from two years ago in January. Of course, I will follow my usual training, but I will also focus on getting to know the team better and understanding all the changes introduced since my departure.

What are your goals for winter testing?

Find out if we have a fast car! For me, another important point will be my understanding of the team's way of working. Learning how to use Pirelli tires properly will be the most important, because it is a very different approach from what I have known.

What do you have planned for the Christmas holidays? Something special ?

I train a lot. The most important thing for me is to strengthen my neck, because it will be put to the test from the pre-season tests. But of course, I will celebrate Christmas with my family.
