Positive for covid-19 and forfeited for the Dutch and Italian Grands Prix, Kimi Räikkönen announced on his Instagram account that he would return to competition for the Sochi Grand Prix, scheduled for September 26 . “I’m fine, see you at the next Grand Prix”, indicates the 2007 world champion. Currently in 17th position in the drivers' standings, Kimi Räikkönen is one point ahead of his teammate, Antonio Giovinazzi.

The Finnish pilot, aged 41 and who announced his retirement earlier this month, was replaced by Robert Kubica for the team Alfa Romeo. The Pole failed to score a single point, finishing in 15th place at Zandvoort and 14th at Monza.
