Kimi Räikkönen and Bianchi conclude in Jerez

The final day of testing in Jerez ended with a best time from Kimi Räikkönen who completed the lap of the circuit in 1’18”148. The session was interrupted for almost an hour following the crumbling of a portion of asphalt, but the teams saw the session extended by half an hour to allow enough time. The Lotus driver completed 83 laps of the track and was just 0 seconds ahead of Jules Bianchi's Force India VJM027. However, the best time of the week remains to the credit of Felipe Massa who achieved a time of 06'1"17 yesterday.

The Frenchman did not, however, compete the entire session, the driver of the Ferrari Driver Academy giving way in the afternoon to the titular driver Paul di Resta after completing a 56-lap program. Sebastian Vettel ends the day by being credited with the third time (1'18"565), but his performance is nevertheless noted since the pilot Red Bull signed this time with an RB9 shod on hard tires. Esteban Gutiérrez follows at 0”521 in his Sauber C32 with which he completed no less than 142 laps. Jean-Eric Vergne completes the top five on his Toro Rosso STR8 who completed 92 laps and finished 0”612 behind the reference time of the last day.

After Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton had another worry-free day and was thus able to make up for the delay made at the start of the week by completing 145 laps, which makes the driver Mercedes the most diligent today. Sergio Pérez is seventh, almost eight tenths behind on the McLaren MP4-28 which completed 98 laps. Valtteri Bottas finished in eighth position by placing the Williams FW34 at 1”703 after 92 laps. Pedro de la Rosa had a difficult day with Ferrari. The Scuderia development driver was only able to complete two training laps before a fire broke out on the F138 following a problem with the gearbox (gallery). The Spaniard was able to return to the track to complete 51 laps but still finished 2”168 behind the best time of the day.

Charles Pic finished tenth with the Caterham CT03. The Frenchman is almost three seconds behind Kimi Räikkönen but was able to enjoy a busy day with 109 laps completed. Luiz Razia follows in the Marussia MR02 which is three seconds behind. Paul di Resta brings up the rear with the Force India VJM06, the Scotsman having concentrated the end of his tests on the long stints with 49 laps on the clock.
