Kimi Räikkönen and Daniel Ricciardo penalized in Montreal

Felipe Massa's exit from the track during the second qualifying session for the Canadian Grand Prix ultimately caused more than just a red flag. The drivers crowded at the exit of the pits to have the chance to perform a final flying lap, which did not please the commissioners who summoned five drivers: Jean-Eric Vergne, Pastor Maldonado, Sergio Pérez, Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen.

The last two cities received a penalty of two places on the grid for having placed themselves outside the fast lane in order to carry out a simulated start. The Finn was also under investigation for overtaking Mark Webber at the pit exit but the stewards decided not to further sanction the Lotus driver, the Red Bull of the Australian being judged to be too slow. The two drivers follow each other on the grid, they actually only lose one place on the grid.
