Kimi Räikkönen, Germany never smiled on him

He never won in Germany, whether at Hockenheim or the Nürburgring. While Formula 1 heads to this second circuit mentioned this weekend, Kimi Räikkönen remembers that he has never been very successful in this country: ?I always loved driving in Germany, but luck was never on my side and there was always something to stop me from winning, declares the Lotus driver. I managed four pole positions which prove my speed in Germany, but six retirements is certainly not what I wanted. »

Despite the bad luck encountered since his career began in 2001, “Iceman” appreciates the two German tracks. “I like them and I've always been quick to do so, even if I don't get results. I did well at the Nürburgring, but I didn?t win. Twice I was forced to abandon while leading the race. » Particularly in 2005, then at McLaren, when a suspension broke at the start of the very last lap of the race, leaving victory to Fernando Alonso, pilot Renault at the time. “I hope everything goes well this time. Last year I had a top three at Hockenheim, so let's see how it goes at the Nürburgring for this first time with the team. »

Fifth last Sunday at Silverstone while the podium was reaching out to him, Kimi Räikkönen did not hide his disappointment after his visit to Great Britain: “ It was a disappointing end to the weekend, that's for sure. The race was going pretty well, but it was a mistake not to come in to change tires during the last safety car. I tried to resist but with tires that had maybe twenty turns more than the others, it was impossible to stay in front. It's a shame because I was in a good rhythm and on the way to a fairly easy second place. But that’s how racing is sometimes. » To return to the top, the 2007 world champion knows what he needs. ?It's been three races now that we haven't gotten the results we hoped for, but I hope we will have a little more luck and that we will be done with a few mistakes, so we can get back to the front. » In the Drivers' standings, the Finn is third with 98 points, behind Fernando Alonso, 111, and Sebastian Vettel, 132.
