Kimi Räikkönen doesn't like simulators

Were you expecting a sixth place at the Japanese GP or did you think you could do better?
This was not the result we were hoping for. I lost time in the incidents on the first lap and I also had problems during my second pit stop. So overall, the race was difficult. Unfortunately, even taking these elements into account, I did not have the performance to do better today. Maybe I could have stayed in front of Lewis [Hamilton] if things had gone a little differently, but I didn't really have the means to go higher than fifth place.

The departure seemed a little tumultuous for you. What was it like in the car?
It was very tight at the first corner. My start was good and I found myself on the left, next to Fernando [Alonso] from the start. He insisted on passing me until I had no more room and his wheel touched my front wing. I suffered a little damage and I think he had a puncture. It wasn't a great start to the race, but there wasn't much else I could do.

What do you remember from this race before leaving for Korea?
The good thing is that I was able to score points to stay in touch in the championship. Of course, we have work to do if we want to catch up with those ahead. But there are five races left and anything can happen.

What are your feelings before tackling a new circuit?
I've never been to Korea, but that doesn't make a big difference to me. Since my youth, I have always been able to understand the circuits very quickly. That hasn't changed.

How do you learn a new circuit?
By turning on it. I know that some drivers work a lot in simulators to learn a circuit, but it's not for me. I've never played the Playstation or spent a lot of time in a simulator and it hasn't affected my performance, I think. We have three hours of free practice on Friday and one more hour before qualifying on Saturday. So all the drivers will know the track very well.

Are you in a hurry to discover a new country?
It?s always interesting to race on a new circuit and enjoy different places. I like this feeling. It?s exciting to arrive there for the first time and start by walking around the circuit to inspect all the corners. I saw the Grand Prix on TV, but I will have to wait for the first laps of the first session on Friday to get my bearings on the circuit. I hope we will have normal weather and that rain or a technical problem will not cut into my track time.

How will you approach this weekend?
I'm going to approach Yeongam the same way as any other race, with the intention of giving it my best.
