Kimi Räikkönen, driver of the month

As during the elections of previous months, many of you cast your votes for the winners of the month of August. The three-way battle quickly boiled down to a duel, as Rubens Barrichello, although winner of the European Grand Prix in Valencia, was quickly left behind by his two rivals, finishing with a score not exceeding 25%.

It remained to decide between Kimi Räikkönen and Giancarlo Fisichella, teammates at Ferrari recently. Tight until mid-September, the opposition finally turned in favor of the 2007 world champion after Monza, where the Italian's performances were judged subpar by more than one observer, earning him a score, all in all. honorable, with 35,2% of the votes. His pole position combined with a good second place at the wheel of Force India in Belgium was therefore not enough. Having realized his dream by settling in a car for the Team, there are now three Grands Prix left for Fisico to show the managers of the Italian brand that they were not wrong to trust him.

With 39,8% of the votes, Räikkönen is therefore the driver of the month of August. In the shadow of Felipe Massa during part of the season, the Finn has ensured the Scuderia's points since the unfortunate accident suffered by his Brazilian teammate. “Iceman”, at the center of discussions during this transfer period since having to give up his seat to Alonso, still enjoys great popularity, as evidenced by the cheers of fans in Monza. With four consecutive podiums, including a victory on his favorite track of Spa-Francorchamps, he demonstrated that his driving skills were still intact, which should allow him to have a competitive car in 2010.

See you next week to discover the names of the three drivers nominated for the month of September.
