Kubica expects the best

Robert Kubica, after a promising race at Spa-Francorchamps, where the two BMW-Saubers got into the points, was unable to confirm at Monza, during the Italian Grand Prix. Starting on the seventh row, the Pole collided with Mark Webber before having to retire on the 16th lap due to an oil leak. But, reassured about the competitiveness of its car, Robert Kubica hopes to experience better things next weekend in Singapore.

« The team must come to Singapore with a big evolution on the single-seaters. I hope that our car will be more competitive and that our pace will surprise our opponents », confides the Pole.

Comfortable on urban circuits, like Monaco or Valencia, Robert Kubica arrives in South-East Asia with the desire to have fun. “ I am impatiently waiting for this Singapore Grand Prix. Everyone knows that I love urban circuits. »

However, he also recognizes that the Singapore Grand Prix is not without its difficulties. “ The route represents quite a challenge, especially the last section which is very tortuous with many turns. As the circuit is not a permanent track, the grip is really minimal at the start of the weekend but improves day by day. Drivers and engineers must anticipate changes in grip levels. »

This Grand Prix, which is contested at night, does not frighten the drivers, the visibility conditions being stable throughout the race. Robert Kubica is no exception, even if the 2008 edition presented irregularities in the terrain and, therefore, gray areas. “ Last year, the surface was very bumpy and we had visibility problems in certain places where the surface was too bumpy. But I was surprised to see how the light factor was managed. »
