Kubica: “Great weekend”

Robert Kubica, if he hoped to be able to do better than third, is also there. Finish behind both Red Bull-Renault by Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel by starting on the wrong side of the track is a great performance. The Pole knows that he did not get off to an excellent start but is satisfied with a weekend where he was able to occupy the forefront.

« Finishing third in Monaco is a great result for us after a great weekend. Nobody expected us to finish on the podium here, but we were ahead all weekend and the whole team deserves this result. It is also a great performance for the Renault engine, which takes the three places on the podium. »

« At the start, I lost my place to Sebastian (Vettel) but I knew that it is always difficult to start on the dirty side of the track, continues Kubica. Normally I would have been able to defend my position but Mark had a bit of a slow start and I thought I could overtake him. But I skated and it was too late to close the door on Sebastian, and I had to defend myself against Felipe (Massa). »

Beyond this bad start, Robert Kubica is satisfied with the general behavior of the Renault R30. “ We had excellent pace in the race and I think I was even faster than Sebastian on the hard tyres, especially after the restarts. The progress we are making is really encouraging for the next races. »
