Kubica: “No time to think about this comeback”

Robert Kubica prepares to make his return in F1 this weekend at the Australian GP after a nine-year absence following his accident rally where he remained disabled in the hand. The Pole patiently waited for a new opportunity after his long convalescence to realize his dream of returning to the Grand Prix.

However, the winner of the 2008 Canadian GP did not display heightened emotion in an already heavy context with the death of FIA racing director Charlie Whiting.

“It was a long absence in this championship, it’s true, confirmed the Pole at the 76 Grands Prix contested at a press conference in Melbourne. But I don't have time to think about this return. I focus on my work and the things I have to do. I'm trying to learn as much as possible about these new F1 cars. Things have changed a lot since the last time I rode in this championship. We have not had an exemplary start to the season and there are many things to check. »

Robert Kubica puts all his efforts to support Williams which is going through a very bad patch, the Grove team having been the only one to miss the first days of winter testing in Barcelona (Spain).

"It's not like we can catch up in a week, so we still have some things to sort out.", underlined the Pole. Our team works very hard, whether on the track or in the factory. This is a difficult time, but we need to make sure we do things right in this situation. We cannot change the past and we must focus on what we have. There's no point wasting energy and time rehashing this. »

Robert Kubica took 2nd place in the Renault R30 in his last start in Melbourne in 2010. The Pole would probably already be very satisfied if he managed to fight for a Top 10 at Albert Park.
