Kubica takes the wheel again with Alfa Romeo

Robert Kubica will be back in action on a Grand Prix weekend. The reservist ofAlfa Romeo will be behind the wheel of the C39 during the first practice session of the Styrian GP at Red Bull Ring this Friday.

The Pole returned to competition last year with Williams has already driven the mount for two sessions during winter testing in Barcelona (Spain). The winner of the 2008 Canadian GP will replace Antonio Giovinazzi.

“I can't wait to get back behind the wheel this week, especially after the long break that the motorsport world has observed, commented Robert Kubica. My goal, as always, will be to provide as much feedback as possible to the engineers from the cockpit. It will be a new experience for everyone this weekend, returning to race on the same circuit a few days apart. We will therefore refine the data from the Austrian GP and test the adjustments on the cars. »

Robert Kubica is a reserve of choice for Alfa Romeo since the Pole has nearly a hundred Grand Prix starts.

“A driver with such experience always offers valuable feedback and will help us understand the car even better, added Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur. Robert was with the team last week and followed all the discussions in the engineering meetings during each session. It will be a chance for him to test the car and his knowledge will help us progress. »

Lacking pace during qualifying, Alfa Romeo took 9th place at the Austrian GP with Antonio Giovinazzi taking advantage of multiple retirements. His teammate Kimi Räikkönen was not so lucky, the 2007 champion dismounting after losing a wheel.
