Kubica: “A difficult decision to accept! »

When were you informed of the decision taken by BMW?

No one informed me, I read it on the internet! I woke up one morning, went for a run, and when I came back, I went online. That's when I saw this? Shortly after, I received an email. It?s difficult to accept, even more so for the guys on the team. It's harder for them to accept than for me, Nick or the team management.

Did you expect such a rushed ending?

No, it’s a very unexpected decision! In Hungary, we knew nothing. Obviously, with hindsight, I understand better certain strange situations during the few discussions I had concerning the future in the Hungarian paddock. But I would never have thought of such a decision. We find ourselves in a slightly strange situation with seven races ahead of us and motivation that will be difficult to maintain within the team?

Would things have been different if the season had been better in terms of results?

If we were fighting for the Driver's or Manufacturer's title, BMW would perhaps have made the same decision but certainly would not have announced it in the middle of the season. This is a very, very strange decision. It is very difficult for Peter Sauber who wants to find a solution for Hinwil? I will try everything to help the team as best as possible even if, in this specific case, I can't do much. All I can do is try to get the best results possible.

Are you on the market?

Yes, the situation is very different for me now. I had a contract for next year? With the people who work with me, we will try to find the best solution. There are possibilities but everyone was on vacation... The discussions are starting now. I am quite confident even if, as always, it is difficult to know which team will be competitive. I hope I will be in a competitive car next year.
