Kvyat: “My dream comes true”

Daniil Kvyat quickly showed serious potential. Eurocup Formula runner-up Renault 2.0 against Stoffel Vandoorne last year, the Russian has maintained a high level this season by competing in the GP3 Series where he will challenge for the title in the final in Abu Dhabi. The resident of Red Bull Junior Team also distinguished itself by winning in Zandvoort as part of the F3 European Championship and had suggested that this success had particular importance for him. Here it is today established alongside Jean-Eric Vergne at Toro Rosso next year.

“This news is fantastic, it’s a dream come true and I would like to thank Red Bull and Toro Rosso to give me this golden opportunity”, comments the young 19-year-old pilot. “I want to go to F1 since I started karting and this dream will come true next season. I got a taste of working at Toro Rosso by taking part in the young driver testing at Silverstone and I really enjoyed the experience. The fact that I live in Italy and speak Italian will help me quickly integrate into the team, I'm sure. »

From the Toro Rosso management side, the news is obviously greeted with a smile. “Daniil is a very talented young driver, which could be seen with his results in the training disciplines”, adds Team Principal Franz Tost. “He impressed our team with high performance and very informative technical feedback during his test as a young driver at Silverstone. This suggests that he has the basic qualities to progress. Daniil can be sure that we will use all our experience of training young drivers to give him the best possible start in F1. »
