The absence of spectators at Monza? A blessing in disguise according to Vettel

Between Ferrari and fans it’s a great love story. And at the Italian Grand Prix it’s even more so. Unfortunately, this year they were unable to attend the Italian route due to the current health crisis. A boon for the entire Team who is going through a complicated year and whose weekend at Monza was a nightmare (double retirement) as so well underlined Sebastian Vettel and with words full of meaning.

« Difficult times are part of life and sport but it's not fair that we are so bad for everyone who tried so hard, before continuing. On the other hand it is proof of the situation in which we find ourselves and it is deplorable, especially at home. I think we were lucky that the spectators were not present in the stands ».

As for the future, the four-time champion wants to be optimistic while keeping his feet on the ground. “ You know where we are now. I hope that at Mugello (September 11-13) we will be in better shape but that does not mean we will fight for the podium ».

In addition to the retirement of Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari had to deal with the accident of Charles Leclerc at the exit of the Parabolic. A zero point at Monza which shows more than ever the ordeal of the Reds, a first since 1995 and the double retirement of Jean Alesi and Gerhard Berger.
