Australia takes tougher measures for people coming from Italy

The 2020 Australian Grand Prix (March 13-15) is still walking on a tightrope. This Friday March 5, the Australian government announced new measures for passengers coming from Italy, the first source of Coronavirus in Europe.

Travelers will now have to answer a questionnaire before boarding their plane as well as have their temperature taken upon landing. Two teams in the field have their base in northern Italy (Ferrari et Alpha Tauri) but also several suppliers such as Brembo brakes or the manufacturer Pirelli.

Italy, however, escapes an outright ban on entry into Australian territory. The organizers of the opening event held in the heart of Melbourne remained optimistic that the event would take place, despite the presence of 10 cases of coronavirus in Victoria to March 4.

« We are all set to prepare for the 25th F1 race in Melbourne next week, commented Andrew Westacott, director of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, at the start of the week.

The final touches are being put on the circuit, freight and staff of the Formula 1 are coming in the coming days and we look forward to opening the doors to the public on Thursday, March 12.

The health and safety of everyone at the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix is paramount.

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation has robust health, safety and emergency management arrangements in place for each event and we work collaboratively with health, government and emergency services agencies to respond this issue. »
