Vijay Mallya sees the threat of extradition to India getting a little stronger. Westminster court has granted the application from the native country of the former owner of Force India suspected of fraud and embezzlement after borrowing money from national banks, notably to keep his airline Kingfisher Airlines afloat and to finance his stable.
The businessman fled to Britain in 2016 after being pursued by India. His airline has since gone bankrupt while his stable F1 was bought mid-year by Lawrence Stroll.
“I have rights. My lawyers will study the different options for the future. I will then decide if we go further”, said Vijay Mallya as he left the court.
It is now up to Interior Minister Sajid Javid to validate the extradition authorization to satisfy India's request.
