Catalonia gives green light for 2021 Spanish Grand Prix
The removal of the great Barnum from the Formula 1 on the side of the Barcelona-Catalonia circuit was haloed with an asterisk when publishing the calendar from the 2021 season to mid-December.
This Wednesday, December 30, the government of the autonomous community validated the event by authorizing the organizers to sign the contract extension with the sport for 2021.
“The Formula 1 Grand Prix is an asset allowing thehas Catalonia to establish its global position in the tourism and automobile sectors », specifies the Catalan government, in a press release taken up by the Reuters agency.
This will be the 31st edition of the Spanish Grand Prix on the track inaugurated to host the cycling team time trial at the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. In 2020, the event was held behind closed doors in August , an unprecedented date because in 2021, the race will take place on May 8.
