The protest is organized against a race at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami

Main heart of Liberty Media's development for the years to come, the United States has not yet been able to confirm a second race on its territory with Austin (Texas) since the takeover of the F1 by the entity led by Chase Carey.

Las Vegas, Miami… there is no shortage of destinations studied by Americans and the Florida city has stood out in recent times. Opposition from local residents, however, derailed the project for a while, before Hard Rock Stadium confirmed a few days ago that the surrounding area of the Miami Dolphins stadium (American football franchise in the NFL) could host an event in 2021.

The matter seemed settled, before Miami-Dade County, of which the stadium is a part, came to put its two cents into the project. As reported by the Miami Herald, public discussions were held and local officials passed a resolution that would give them the power to restrict street closures in preparation for a race.

This follows numerous protests from local residents, who could also have their say, with an ordinance voted in their favor to give a more than advisory opinion. If denied, an appeals process would be initiated, with the final decision returned to local officials.

In the story, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez admitted that he could, however, veto both measures. “No one will be 100% happy, but we have to find a happy medium. » comments the councilor.

Seeing the single-seaters chart their course along the Atlantic in 2021 is therefore far from being confirmed at the moment.
