F1 soon to be sold?

While F1 is frequently criticized for its lack of spectacle or its complex regulations, the premier discipline of single-seaters still seems to interest investors. Stephen Ross (owner of the Miami Dolphins in the NFL), John Malone (CEO of Discovery Communications) and Qatar were already mentioned in 2015 as possible buyers of the shares belonging to CVC Partners.

Bernie Ecclestone, shareholder of the company and director of FOM, confirmed in an interview with The Mail on Sunday that the possibility of a sale was still being considered. “CVC will make its decision fairly quickly. Some people want to buy, two of them agree on the price. It’s just a question of whether CVC wants to sell or not.”, explained the F1 financier.

As for whether a takeover of F1 would lead to a change in regulations, Bernie Ecclestone preferred to kick in. “We don’t know what will happen until someone buys.”, simply replied Bernie Ecclestone.
