F1 on the streets of Prague?

As Bernie Ecclestone likes to point out, to better negotiate his contracts with circuit owners, many countries are ready to welcome the Formula 1. And it is currently the Grands Prix on urban tracks which are the most successful, after the examples given by Monaco, Valencia and Singapore.

It is now Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, which would like to see Formula 1 cars take over its streets. The organization of such a Grand Prix, much less expensive than the construction of a modern circuit, is the envy of many countries, while Rome would like to organize such a race and New York could host F1 in this way.

Antonin Charouz, owner of Charouz Racing, driver manager and promoter, is currently in negotiations with the DTM to host the touring car championship in the Czech Republic. And this gives him ideas to organize an even more prestigious race in the streets of the capital.

« Formula 1 is an ambition ", Charouz tells AutoWeek. “ If we produce a good show with the DTM, then maybe we could have a Grand Prix, but there is nothing written on paper at the moment. »

« The track will be in the middle of a city of 1,5 million inhabitants. This type of circuit is the future of motorsport », concludes Charouz, who would like to be able to host F1 in the Czech Republic by 2012.
