F1 about to be sold to Liberty Media?

As US investment group CVC Capital Partners seeks to sell its shares in F1 for several years, the discipline should soon be taken over by the company Liberty Media. John Malone, the CEO of the Nasdaq-listed company, could buy CVC's 35% stake for $8,5 billion (around €7,6 billion).

This would not be the first investment of this businessman in motorsport since he has already bought the holding company of the Formula e.

CVC Capital Partners has been in discussions with several potential buyers in recent years including Qatar Sports Investments and Stephen Ross, the owner of the NFL club Miami Dolphins.

If the sale is about to be concluded, the future of Bernie Ecclestone remains uncertain. The director of the FOM refused to make any comments in the Monza paddock which hosted the Italian Grand Prix last weekend. An announcement could be made this Tuesday, September 6.
