F1 rules out further postponement of 2021 regulations

While several teams called for a further shift in future regulations F1, would the leaders of the discipline have felt the need to nip nascent desires in the bud?

Since the one-year postponement of the 2021 project, several voices have in fact been raised to request a second 12-month postponement, starting with that of Christian Horner, team principal of Red Bull Racing

His counterpart at Racing Point, Otmar Szafnauer, went even further by campaigning half-heartedly for an abandonment of the F1 of the future, which we/you have been hearing about for years.

Although he says he understands these positions, Ross Brawn nevertheless insisted that the technical revolution will take place in 2022.

« Some teams would like to delay payment for another year, Brawn told the official F1 website. Keeping the same cars in 2021 is perfectly justified at a time when all the teams are closed.

The initiatives we support under the new rules aim to make sport more economically viable. Currently, cars are so complex that you have to pay large sums of money to go faster. We want to curb this trend and create an eco-system where resources will not dictate your level of performance.

For this we need new cars.

We always want the big teams to win, we must maintain the integrity of the sport and reward the best. We will have to wait a little before seeing the new cars and the new regulations but they will arrive in 2022, that's for sure. ».

Of which act.
