F1 in favor of a return to Africa and two GPs in the United States

And if the Formula 1 took a leap back? This is what the responses of Stefano Domenicali, boss of F1 since last January, suggest.

In a Formula 1 promotional video, the former main team of Ferrari was invited to discuss various topics on the future of the discipline. Two of them concerned Africa and the United States in particular.

Having to answer yes or no, Stefano Domenicali confirmed that F1 would return to the African continent over the next five years without revealing more details. A first since 1993 and the South African Grand Prix at Kyalami.

Chase Carey's successor also indicated that a second Grand Prix in the United States should see the light of day within the next three years. As in the 1970s and 1980s, Uncle Sam's country could be one of the attractions of the season with two rounds per year.

To find traces of two GPs in the United States we have to go back to the 1984 season with a race in the streets of Detroit and another in those of Dallas. Nelson Piquet (Brabham) won first, Keke Rosberg (Williams) the second.

Furthermore, Stefano Domenicali confirmed that the two-day race weekend format will not see the light of day.
