F1 strengthens its technical department

The future of F1 in the new era Liberty Media will go through the evolution of technical rules in the future, and with this in mind, Liberty Media, new owner of the discipline, has recruited Jason Somerville and Craig Wilson within the Motor Sports division, headed by Ross Brawn.

Après avoir travaillé avec BMW au Mans (avec la victoire en 1999), Somerville est passé en F1 dans le giron Toyota, puis Lotus-Renault before joining Williams as head of aerodynamics, a position he will occupy in the Liberty Media organization chart.

Craig Wilson will take charge of Vehicle Performance, after a career spent at BAR, Honda, Brawn GP and Williams. Both will work in a group of engineers who will research the directions and implications of future technical regulations in F1.

This working group will work in conjunction the FIA ​​technical department and the teams, sharing the results of their work “with a view to improving Formula 1 racing” as specified in the Liberty Media press release.

Nigel Kerr has also been recruited as Motor Sports Finance Director and will also work alongside Ross Brawn. Kerr evolved within BAR, Honda, Brawn GP or even Mercedes, in charge of strategy and financial operations.
