F1 on Canal+ until 2022

Since 2013, if you want to follow the entire season Formula 1, it’s on Canal+ that it’s happening. While the current agreement ended at the end of the 2020 campaign, the pay channel confirmed this Tuesday through its president Maxime Saada that the premier motorsport category remained on Canal+ until at least 2022.

7 years ago, the encrypted channel succeeded TF1 and began the transition of sport to paid channels. The general channel, however, partially resumed contact in 2018 via an agreement for the broadcast of 4 annual Grands Prix for 3 years.

The announcement of the Canal+ contract extension follows the publication of 2019 F1 audiences by Liberty Media, which welcomes a cumulative increase of 9% to reach 1,922 billion viewers. On the other hand, a slight decline was noted in the number of unique viewers: 471 million compared to 490,2 million in 2018, a decrease of -3,9%.
