During a sale of car, especially for the Formula 1, what matters is the chassis since it is the one that stipulates the history of the car and thus defines its value. The history of chassis 211 of the Ferrari F2001 of Michael Schumacher is unique, possibly the most iconic single-seater in the premier class of motorsport. It will be on sale in Monaco, for the 2025 edition of the Grand Prix.
This chassis stands out from the others because it is the only one, among the Kaiser's panoply of red single-seaters, to have won both the Monaco Grand Prix and the Formula 1 World Championship in 2001. A win in Monaco alone would make this Ferrari an extremely important car, explained Augustin Sabatié-Garat, sales director at RM Sotheby's. But to do it in the same season that she crossed the line to win both the Drivers' and Teams' World Championships – the first back-to-back double in Ferrari's history – takes her to a completely different level."
The legend will be auctioned on Saturday, May 24, just before the start of qualifying for the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix. The single-seater will unfortunately not be visible to the public during the race weekend, only the very exclusive F1 Paddock Club will be able to take advantage of it since it will be exhibited there from Friday, May 23. We are very pleased to bring chassis 211 back to the site of its historic victory, and to be able to auction it during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend is a huge privilege.” declared Augustin Sabatié-Garat.
While it is difficult to estimate the value of such a collector's item, several million euros will be required for anyone who wants to buy it. Note that a donation from the profits will be made to the association that perpetuates Schumacher's charitable work: the Keep Fighting Foundation.
