The FIA would have resolved its telemetry link problems

Is this finally resolved? During the first four Grand Prix of this season, warning lights in F1 did not work due to a problem with the telemetry link between the FIA and the cars. This forced drivers to race without having any information about the race conditions and gave rise to grotesque situations, such as when a large number of drivers were accused of using their DRS under yellow flag conditions during the Grand Prix. from China, which is prohibited by the regulations. An incident which will later be closed without further action.

The link between the actors and the organizers is supposed to be established by Riedel Communications, a new supplier. The latter assures today that the problem will return to order in Spain, within 10 days. “We have been told that a change will be made in Barcelona and that it will work from here”, explains Derek Warwick, who often serves as a pilot marshal, to the Reuters news agency. “We can’t blame a pilot if our telemetry module misfired”, continues the former pilot of F1. “So the FIA asked us to be more flexible in penalizing the drivers, but we still have the other tools available for the other sanctions”, concludes the president of the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC), who will again be driver-commissioner this season at home in Great Britain, Belgium, Singapore and South Korea.
